What is CNC - computer numerical control

The computer numerical control (or more commonly known as CNC) is a system that allows you to control the position of a physical element at all times. Normally a tool, which is mounted on a machine.

This is achieved through a program and a set of orders added. With both, you can control the coordinates of a point position (the tool that works the product) with respect to an origin (the position of the machine). In short, we are working with a kind of GPS but applied to the world of machining, and much more precise.

If we had a cube, each of the edges would consist of its own unique coordinates. Thus, to direct a tip of a tool when touching each of the coordinates, you just have to enter the relevant commands in the program. It will load on the machine, which will execute all paths. The first figure represents the displacement on the X axis, the second on the Y axis, and the third on the Z axis. As can be seen, the work is carried out on a three-dimensional plane.

The CNC system controls all the movements of the tool when we are manufacturing.

It not only controls the coordinates we have seen, but also, the way to move between them, their speed, and some more parameters. A CNC is a fully integrated equipment within machine tools of all kinds, machining, cutting, laser, cutters, etc.

The logical question, what is the CNC for? As we have said, it allows us to control at all times what the tool movements are. It also results in fully customized products for the end customer.

In Mecanizados Sinc we have different types of CNC lathes, so that the customer gets a perfect and well finished product. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact us at the telephone number +0034 96 652 22 48 or by email: mecasinc@mecanizadossinc.com.
